Alvaro Palacios Camins Del Priorat 2008, Priorat, Spain
Beautiful deep ruby, almost a purple coloured wine, 60% Carignan, 30% Grenache, with Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah rounding out this blend. Very elegant aromatics of wild raspberries, cherries and blueberries fruit with savoury spices, cedar and Irises. The mouthfeel is soft, with flavours blending very well together followed with fresh acidity and silky tannins. The long finish is anything but soft, with spices and a bit of heat from the 14.5% alcohol. I like the label, it represents what is inside this bottle, not a blockbuster type of wine but a more elegant and well made wine. If I was the winemaker, this is the type of wine I would want to make, and at this price, its an outstanding value.
This wine was purchased on May 28, 2011 LCBO New Release at $22.95.
