Château De Chatelard Les Vieux Granit 2009, Fleurie, Beaujolais, France

It as been a couple of years, since I have bought a Beaujolais. The last two Beaujolais I purchased turned out to be a big disappointment. When I open a Beaujolais I am looking for a fruity, refreshing, light to medium body wine with light tannins. But the last two were an oaky tannic mess with sediments galore, Bordeaux wannabe. Poor Beaujolais like this are a disservice to the rest of Beaujolais producers.
What about this Château De Chatelard Les Vieux Granit 2009 ?  What a charming wine here, full of character and flavour. The blueberry, raspberries and strawberry aromas are very inviting. This light to medium body wine is framed with concentrated fruit flavours, lively acidity and velvety tannins. Serve slightly chilled will make this a refreshing wine with excellent value for money.

This wine was purchased June 11, 2011 LCBO New Release at $17.95
