E. Guigal Gigondas 2007, Rhône, France

From the superb 2007 Rhône vintage, this Gigondas from the very reliable E. Guigal is a blend of 65% Grenache, 25% Mourvedre and 10% Syrah. Very intense aromatics with sour cherry, blackberry, dark plums, smoke meat, clove and licorice aromas. Full bodied and generous mouthfeel with loads of flavours and concentrated fruit, balance acidity and ripe silky tannins. This Gigondas finish is long, smooth, rich with ripe berry fruit and garrigue flavours. This wine could be cellared for 10-15 years but has great structure and a very rich mouthfeel, drinking beautifully right now, so why wait?   Strongly recommended.

This wine was purchased November 12, 2011 LCBO New Release at $29.95.
