La Rioja Alta S.A. Grand Reserva 904 Cosecha 1998, Rioja, Spain

There is something sensuous about the aromas of this mature Grand Reserva, with its sour-edge berries and plums nose, prune, dried fig, vanilla, church wood, a bit of earthy funk and baking spices. On the mouthfeel a light to medium body (12.5% alcohol), light tannins, smooth texture and fresh acidity. It is medium length on the finish with flavours of plums and baking spices all wrapped up with dusty tannins. The exact blend of this Rioja is 90% Tempranillo and 10% Graciano. This is a very good example of a traditional style Grand Reserva with its great aromatics, it is elegance where all elements of this wine are well integrated. This wine is ready for center stage and is drinking at its peak right now, no need to wait any longer.  Strongly recommended for fans of this style.

This wine was purchased August 2011 in Barcelona, Spain
