Santorini Assyrtiko 2011, Pdo Santorini, Greece

This wine made on the beautiful island of Santorini is 100% Assyrtiko grapes, produced by Santos Wines, which is a joint venture of Santorini Cooperatives with alcohol at 13.5%.

Bright yellow in color this wine opened up with aromas of ripe apple, pears, citrus fruit, light floral and a stony minerality nose. On the mouthfeel, medium bodied, bone dry, mineral driven with a complex sweet and sour fruit flavours and a lively acidity. This wine finish is clean, refreshing with loads of energy with flavours of grapefruit and a touch of honey. Here is a wine with tonnes of personality, great value and strongly recommended. Score 90 points.

Artemis Karamolegos Santorini 2010, Santorini, Aegean Islands, Grece

Bright yellow in color, this un-oaked wine is made with 100% Assyrtico grape from the beautiful volcanic island of Santorini, with alcohol coming in at 13.5%.

This wine opened up with aromas of ripe peach, pear, citrus fruit, spices, light honey and minerals notes. On the mouthfeel, medium bodied, low acidity with flavours of ripe tropical and citrus fruit and a touch of honey. This finish is long, slightly creamy with luscious tropical fruit lingering. Interesting wine and a great value, I would like to try this wine with a BBQ pork tenderloin with a spicy tropical fruit salsa. Score 88 points.
