Well, this is a first for me, a kosher wine from Israel. It is always interesting to try something new and further expand my wine knowledge. These grapes are grown in a high-altitude vineyard in the Northern Galilee, where Israel’s rich, ancient soil, warm days, and cool Mediterranean nights produces a wine similar to St-Emilion in Bordeaux, France. This wine is aged 15 months in French oak (40% new oak) with alcohol coming in at 14.5%.
This wine opens up with an exotic nose of blackberry, blackcurrants, black tea, herbs and spices, spicy cedar wood and earthy notes. On the mouthfeel, dry, medium-full bodied with flavours of dark fruit, cloves, black olives, soft acidity and grainy tannins. A very good length on the finish with flavours of savoury spices, rich concentrated fruit, smoky and minerals notes lingering. The most interesting wine I have had in a long time. Strongly recommended and very enjoyable, score 90 points.
