Very inviting nose with aromas of black cherries, wild berries, plums, tobacco, leather, underbrush, smoky and peppery notes. On the mouthfeel, medium bodied, flavourful with slightly rustic flavours, fine dusty tannins and refreshing acidity. The finish is medium length, tasty with very good depth of flavours.

A real charmer, this little number from Abruzzo. I love discovering everyday balanced wines that are flavourful, tasty, well structured, full of character and above all, affordable. Enjoyable with pizza, Italian pasta, BBQ food but most of all, on it’s own. Great value and definitely case worthy. Strongly recommended my wine friends ๐Ÿท

Gorgeous, slightly rustic nose with aromas of cherries, plums, raspberries, tobacco, violets, underbrush and light baking spices. On the mouthfeel, medium bodied, bright Sangiovese flavours with dusty tannins and refreshing acidity. The finish is medium length with flavours of tart cherries, raspberries, oak and spices with a beautiful lift of acidity.

Attracted to this Chianti by the huge display advertising it’s #19 on WS top 100 of 2018 and at a cost of only $22.99. Worth the hype? You bet it was. ๐Ÿ™‚ Well deserving of all the accolades. An elegant, well balanced, well integrated Chianti from a superb vintage. I like it so much that I requested my spouse to purchased another three bottles, then to see him return with a full case ๐Ÿ™‰๐Ÿ˜œ I guess I am not the only one that really enjoyed it ๐Ÿ˜‚ A very tasty Chianti experience. Cheers my wine friends ๐Ÿท

A very attractive nose with aromas of blackberries, blueberries, black currants, camp fire smoke, violets, savoury herbs and vanilla notes. On the mouthfeel, full bodied, fantastic mid palate with smooth tannins and balanced acidity. The finish is medium-long, clean with excellent depth of flavours.

My first time with this Cabernet Franc and what a fantastic wine experience it was. A wine with great aromatics, complex flavours and terrific oak integration. A Cabernet Franc tailor made for Cabernet Sauvignon lovers. In a sea of expensive California wines, this one represents a great value. Need I say, outstanding wine and strongly recommended. Intriguing nose with aromas of black cherries, plums, dried figs, damp earth, leather, espresso and smoky notes. On the mouthfeel, medium-full bodied, savoury, leathery fruit flavours, lively acidity and firm, grainy tannins. Very good length on the finish with flavours of sour cherries, dried fruits, earthy and savoury herbs all wrapped up with drying tannins. ⁣

A different type of Aglianico for me, slightly rustic, earthy with more dried fruit than fresh fruit, lots of savoury notes and those trademark tannic structure of the varietal. It keeps getting better The longer it breathes. Definitely a very tasty wine experience. Cheers my wine friends.

Villa Mora Montefalco Sagrantino 2006, Docg Umbria, Italy

Made with 100% Sagrantino grapes, under the DOCG rule, that it must be aged for 12 months in oak and a further 18 months in bottle before release, alcohol comes in at 15.5%.

Deep opaque, purple, almost black in color, this wine opened up with aromas of dark cherry/plum fruit, dried mushroom, licorice, saddle leather, dried violet and light meaty notes. On the mouthfeel, full bodied with a powerful, dry and firm structured, concentrated flavours, balance acidity and muscular tannins. The length on the finish is very good, with intense flavours and a lingering tannic grip. This wine was most interesting, and one that I would not have associated with most Italian wines. It should appeal to fans of Napa Valley Cabernet, although seven years old this wine would still benefit from another 2-3 additional years in bottle. Great value and an excellent addition to your cellar, score 90 points.

Renรฉ Bouvier Le Chapitre Bourgogne 2008, Ac Burgundy, France

A pretty ruby red in color, this Pinot Noir opened up with aromas of sour cherries, red currants, beets and light earthy notes. On the mouthfeel, light bodied (alcohol comes in at 12.5%), lean, dry, austere with very little fruit, lively acidity and dusty tannins. This wine's finish is short and tart. It was recommended that I should wait a few years before opening (which I did) but I cannot see this Pinot Noir getting any better, I wonder if this wine was made with any fruit at all. Not particularly memorable or pleasant, score 84 points.

I Campi Campo Vulcano Soave Classico 2010, Veneto Italy

Straw yellow in color, this Garganega/Trebbiano blend opened up with aromas of grapefruit, pears and light stony, minerality notes. On the mouthfeel, light to medium bodied (alcohol comes in at 12.5%), a lot of citrus fruit, tree fruit with light minerality and vibrant acidity. Medium length on the finish, a bit tart with grapefruit flavors lingering. Enjoyable, but for me, this vintage was not as ripe as the 2009 vintage, score 89 points.

Purchased March 30, 2013 LCBO Vintages New Release (269969) at $18.95
