A fine group of wines were enjoyed and reviewed this month, with only one disappointment. This was a very good month for European wines, all of them were very enjoyable and represented well the region which they came from. I opened a little more white wine then usual, and really enjoyed Marc Brédif Vouvray 2009. Also an honorable mention to Umberto Cesari Liano 2008 and E. Guigal Gigondas 2007. This month was definitely a great month for French wines. Here are the three wines that made the final cut.

There was no contest for this number 1 spot as this wine had it all. You know comfort food? This was a comfort wine for me. A rich full bodied Merlot with lots of everything but no excess. Gorgeous wine
2-La Rioja Alta S.A. Grand Reserva 904 Cosecha 1998, Rioja, Spain

You could not find a wine of more contrast, compared to my number 1 spot. This Grand Reserva has such beautiful aromatics, very elegant and very smooth. A great souvenir from my summer vacation.
3-Domaine Grand Veneur Clos de Sixte Lirac 2009, Rhône, France

There was many wines that could have earned this spot, but none more deserving then le Domaine Grand Veneur Clos de Sixte Lirac 2009. A wine with lots of energy, character and length and at $24.00 a great value.
